Bread Making Courses (out of season only)
Most mornings I bake fresh bread for the Olive Tree guests. One of the most popular is soda bread which suits me fine as it comes under the category of "quick breads" using bicarbonate of soda as a raising agent rather than yeast.
Quite a number of guests have asked to take a copy of the recipe home which pleases me greatly until they add,
"Of course I'll probably never do it; I'm useless at that sort of thing."
I reassure them that it really is very straightforward, but maybe it isn't if you are unfamiliar with how dough should look and feel.
It has therefore been suggested that I show people how to do it!
Arrive any time on Friday and enjoy being in hopefully sunny Cornwall!
Enjoy a two or three course evening meal and meet other guests, feel free to bring your own wine or any preferred tipple!
After breakfast on Saturday expertly cooked by Tim we'll banish him from the kitchen and each prepare one quick bread and one yeast bread from scratch. I’ll explain the principles behind both and possible pitfalls.
If you have a bread maker lurking in the back of your kitchen cupboard, I can show you how to use it in a slightly unconventional way to very good effect!
Following all this hard work we’ll recover with a lunch of freshly baked bread of course and home made soup, made by us if we have the time, if not it will be “one I made earlier!”
The rest of the weekend will be optional leaving you free to explore and enjoy Cornwall or you can opt to stay around and experience even more of my cooking in the evening, and discover more bread making techniques and recipes on Sunday, perhaps naan bread, bagels or suggest to me something you would like to learn more about.
Cost will start at £89 for one person for one night's two course dinner, bed, breakfast, a morning's tuition and lunch. Phone or e-mail for a tailored quote!
